Terms of Service

Welcome to Sona Speech Therapy. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of our speech therapy services and website. By booking or receiving our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

2. Services Provided

2.1 Clinical Services

We provide professional speech therapy services for adults, including:

  • Voice disorder assessment and therapy
  • Clinical swallowing assessment and therapy (dysphagia)
  • Speech and language rehabilitation
  • Chronic cough management
  • Upper airway disorder treatment
  • Gender affirming voice therapy

2.2 Service Delivery Methods

  • In-Person Services: At our Wellington clinic
  • Telehealth Services: Via secure video conferencing for patients nationwide
  • Assessment and Follow-up: Both formats available as clinically appropriate

2.3 Professional Standards

All services are provided in accordance with:

  • New Zealand Speech-language Therapists’ Association (NZSTA) standards
  • Sacha abides by NZSTA Scope of Practice and Rules of Ethics
  • Sacha will adhere to the Health Information Privacy Code 1994

3. Appointments

  • Online booking available through Cal.com platform
  • 24 hours notice requested for cancellations
  • Payment required at time of booking

4. Payment

  • Initial Assessment: $207 (Wellington) / $167 (Telehealth)
  • Follow-up Sessions: $157 (Wellington) / $127 (Telehealth)
  • Payment required at time of booking or service

5. Clinical Services

  • Services provided within scope of speech-language therapy practice
  • Not a substitute for medical care or emergency services
  • This is not an emergency service - contact your GP or emergency services (111) for urgent medical issues
  • Patients expected to provide accurate health information and follow treatment recommendations

6. Telehealth Services

6.1 Technology Requirements

  • Stable internet connection
  • Device with camera and microphone
  • Quiet, private environment
  • Current web browser or video app

6.2 Telehealth Limitations

  • Not suitable for all conditions or assessments
  • Technology failures may require rescheduling
  • In-person assessment may be recommended
  • Emergency situations require local medical attention

We adhere to the Aotearoa Allied Health Best Practice Guide for Telehealth 2020 and will consider whether a physical examination would add critical information before providing care.

By participating in telehealth services, you:

  • Consent to remote delivery of speech therapy
  • Understand technology limitations
  • Agree to use secure platforms only
  • Accept responsibility for your physical environment

7. Privacy and Confidentiality

7.1 Professional Confidentiality

  • Strict confidentiality maintained per professional standards
  • Information shared only with your consent or as legally required
  • Secure systems used for all communications and records

7.2 Record Keeping

  • Clinical records maintained per New Zealand standards
  • Reports provided to referring healthcare providers as appropriate
  • Access to your records available upon request

7.3 Third-Party Services

We use secure third-party platforms:

  • Cal.com for appointment scheduling
  • Stripe/Square for payment processing
  • Video platforms for telehealth delivery

8. Intellectual Property

8.1 Therapy Materials and Resources

All therapy materials, handouts, exercises, programs, and resources provided by Sona Speech Therapy remain our intellectual property. You may:

  • Use materials for your personal therapy purposes
  • Make copies for your own use during treatment

You may not:

  • Share materials with others outside your immediate family
  • Reproduce materials for commercial purposes
  • Distribute or sell any provided resources

8.2 Clinical Methods and Approaches

Our therapy techniques, assessment methods, and treatment protocols are proprietary and may not be replicated for commercial purposes without written consent.

9. Limitation of Liability

8.1 Service Limitations

  • Speech therapy outcomes cannot be guaranteed
  • Individual results vary based on many factors
  • Treatment recommendations based on clinical judgment
  • Not liable for treatment decisions made by other providers

8.2 Technology Limitations

  • Not responsible for internet connectivity issues
  • Technical failures may require rescheduling
  • Patient responsible for suitable technology setup
  • Data transmission security cannot be absolutely guaranteed

8.3 Maximum Liability

Our total liability is limited to the amount paid for services in the preceding 12 months.

10.1 Professional Registration

10.2 Complaint Process

  • Internal complaints: Contact practice directly
  • Professional complaints: NZSTA
  • Service quality issues addressed promptly and professionally

11. Terms Updates and Changes

11.1 Updates

  • Terms may be updated periodically
  • Changes posted on website with effective date
  • Continued use constitutes acceptance of updated terms

11.2 Service Changes

  • Services and fees subject to change with notice
  • Clinical protocols updated per professional standards
  • Technology platforms may change to improve service delivery

12. Governing Law

12.1 New Zealand Law

These Terms are governed by New Zealand law, including:

  • Privacy Act 2020
  • Health Information Privacy Code 2020
